I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Baker Days, who asked if I would like to review one of their Letterbox gift cakes. How could I turn that down? I love food.
I opted for the Nuts About You cake, as the image of chocolate spread was just too cute to pass up, and the fact that you can personalise it, was a bonus. I can't wait to tell you how it tasted...
It tasted amazing. Simply, amazing. I had high hopes upon receiving this, as I had heard great reviews from other fellow bloggers. I was quite sceptical at first, as to how it would fit through my letterbox, and if it would ruin. To my surprise, it didn't! It remained intact and looked delicious as ever.
The scent was something else. I could have just sat around all day smelling the cake. If that's not too weird... The cake I received was a vanilla spongecake which is my all time favourite, so I was more than happy, and spread on top was the most heavenly icing ever. There's also the option to change the sponge on your cake, so if you're more of a chocolate chip sponge girl (gotta say I'm usually am) then there's the option to change it to that for £1 more!
The letterbox cake that I received is priced at £14.99, and it's a 5 inch cake, where you can get 3-4 portions out of it. Personally, that's slightly out of my budget for a small cake, but it is personalised, comes in the cutest ever tin, alongside a pack of love heart sweets (so cute), and it tastes glorious, so you can't really complain.
This was a present to my boyfriend, but of course I shared it with him, how could I not? We both loved it, and wanted more after finishing (greedy I know). I think a personalised cake makes for such a lovely and thoughtful gift as there are so many different themes, including birthday cakes, sorry cakes, graduation, celebrity ones... and the Letterbox cakes would be a nice surprise to send to someone, as it's totally easy to send, and you don't have to worry about them not being in to receive it!
The cakes are all handmade to order, and they can even personalise a cake the way you want, if you haven't seen one that tickles your fancy (which is surprising as there all so cute!)
You can follow Baker Days on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Have you ever bought a personalised cake? Which one would you like to try from Baker Days? XOXO B.

I agree!!! xxx
DeleteLove personalised gifts. Although I have to agree that £14.99 is a little steep for me. I recently purchased some personalised cookies for my brother in laws birthday the other month. They looked really cute, hand iced too and with a message added on in the piping. Only cost me £8.50 plus £3 postage. Couldn't really go wrong. I personally don't like a sheet of icing like this cake, but glad to hear you and your boyfriend enjoyed it :)

That cake is so cute and I trust your opinions on how it tastes! I agree though... £14.99 is quite expensive for a small cake! It's a great present though!
