I've got a nice mixture for you! From thrillers to romance! So hopefully this post will make you add to your reading list!
I thought I'd share with you the blurbs, but once I've read them I would be happy to do reviews on them, if that's something you'd be interested in reading! (Let me know in the comments)
Behind Closed Doors by Elizabeth Haynes: Ten years ago, fourteen-year-old Scarlett Rainsford vanished without a trace during a family holiday to Greece. Not being able to find her was one of the biggest regrets of DCI Louisa Smith's career, so when Scarlett is discovered back in her home town after all this time, Lou is determined to find out what happened to her and why she remained hidden for so long. Was she abducted or did she run away? When Lou and her team delve deeper into Scarlett's past, their investigation throws up more questions than it answers. But as they edge closer to the truth, the case becomes more sinister and disturbing than they had ever imagined.
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn: Libby Day was just seven years old when her evidence put her fifteen-year-old brother behind bars. Since then, she has been drifting. But when she is contacted by a group who are convinced of Ben's innocence, Libby starts to ask questions she never dared to before. Was the voice she heard her brother's? Ben was a misfit in their small town, but was he capable of murder? Are there secrets to uncover at the family farm or is Libby deluding herself because she wants her brother back? She begins to realise that everyone in her family had something to hide that day... especially Ben. Now, twenty-four years later, the truth is going to be even harder to find. Who did massacre the Day family?
A Year Of Marvellous Ways by Sarah Winman: This is a story about Marvellous Ways, an eighty-nine-year-old woman sits by a creek in Cornwall, waiting for a last adventure. And it's about Francis Drake, a young soldier who washes up there, reeling from war and broken-hearted. It's about the magic in everyday life and the lure of the sea, the healing powers of storytelling and sloe gin, and how we carry on when grief comes snapping at our heels.
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven: Theodore Finch wants to take his own life. Violet Markey is devastated by her sister's death. They meet on the ledge of the school bell tower, and so their story begins. It's only together they can be themselves...But, as Violet's world grows, Finch's begins to shrink. How far will Violet go to save the boy she has come to love?
The Versions Of Us by Laura Barnett: Eva and Jim are nineteen, and students at Cambridge, when their paths first cross in 1958. Jim is walking along a lane when a woman approaching him on a bicycle swerves to avoid a dog. What happens next will determine the rest of their lives...
Love From Paris by Alexandra Potter: How far would you go for love? When new boyfriend Jack stands her up at the airport, Ruby Miller dries her tears, jumps on the Eurostar and heads to Paris. She thinks she's going there to visit an old friend and have a total break from romance. But the City of Love has other ideas. A locked apartment where time has stood still, a bundle of long-lost love letters and a flirtatious French lawyer sweep Ruby into a mystery that spans three-quarters of a century. Who is the author of the letters? Why did the owner of the apartment close up the shutters and flee Paris before the war? And what secret was she hiding? As the mystery deepens, Ruby turns love detective but it's not long before the ghosts of the past throw her own love affair into jeopardy.
Match Me If You Can by Michele Gorman: Meet best friends Catherine, Rachel and Sarah. Yet to find Mr Right, they've been settling for Mr Right Now. But when Catherine, London's finest matchmaker, gets the girls to join her dating site where they can rate and recommend their ex-boyfriends, they soon realise that anything could happen...
