YOURS SINCERELY, A FRIEND

For the seventh week of the Gratitude Challenge I have to write about a friend, but I thought I'd make it more general about friendship as this isn't something I've learned to grasp very easily. I've always been a quiet, lonely and anxious individual, and thus this has stopped me from making friends and being more sociable. I wrote a post about my anxiety where I went into more detail on this if you want to have a read of it here. But there is a few people I would like to mention in this blog post, as I am extremely grateful that I have them in my life.

I want to mention the A team.
What? What is this 'A team' you talk about??? WELL. Now you've asked...

Basically Shannice, Holly and I became a PLL tribute fan club. Lol. We got that obsessed with the show we call ourselves the A team, we have a group chat which is the equivalent of a therapy class, and we release our inner A to one another.

Shannice has been my best friend since around year eight, honestly thinking back to old memories makes me cry with laughter, all I'll say is BEACH and the endless amount of nicknames we gave to our class. She is currently studying in London so I feel like I've lost a leg tbh. She has always always been there for me, and listened to my problems (and believe me there's a lot of them) xoxo

Holly and I have been besties since eyu, those were the good old days, we used to play HSM together, we were Chad and Troy. I've grown up with her, so she's always been there for me, we're even on the same course at Uni! I actually think we'll be in the same care home when where elderly tbh lmao xoxo

There's friends who have been in my life since I was six, we was a right close group and now I barely talk to any of them. It's probably the saddest thing ever, as we all thought we'd be close forever. Some made me constantly feel down, and one I messed everything up with. That's life though. You make mistakes but you can't change them. I just hope one day we can all come back together and have a catch up!

Now, there's Jenna. We were inseparable best friends from year 7-11, like insanely close. We have hardly talked for years, yet we used to write on each others Bebo walls that we'd be bezzies in a care home racing each other on our mobility scooters haha. Literally saw her as my sister as cheesy as that is.

I feel incredibly lonely all the time, losing friends and drifting away from people is probably the worst thing ever. I actually can't cope with it, it makes me so upset. Obviously my boyfriend is my bestie too, but I've ranted on about him here, don't wanna bore you!

Then on a more positive note, sorry for always being so negative! There's people at uni. I'm starting to make friends finally, and starting to feel more comfortable around people which has honestly made me so happy! It literally makes my whole entire day when someone smiles/ says hi or has a conversation with me, I'm easily pleased. Blogging has also allowed me to speak to some amazing people, Twitter is a godsend for it. You all need to check out Charlie's blog it's amazing xoxo

I just wish I was close to people again. I wish I didn't lose friends, I wish certain events in life didn't take place, if only I could turn back time (que music). I just hope University is the key for me, I hope I am able to make new friends, not so they can replace the old, but so they can fill that hole that the people who left made... I literally feel so soppy and emotional right now, I feel like my blog is my personal diary.

So basically I'm grateful to the people that have been in my life over the years, whether they're still here now or not.

  1. I know exactly how it feels to drift away from someone you were once close to, better yet be really hurt by them! But sometimes it's for the best, surround yourself with good positive people! XXX

  2. This is basically the same for me! Don't think I've ever related so much to a post in my life ahah! Drifting away from good friends is the hardest but you have to stay positive and in the present with people you love and care about. I have friends that I've known from the first day in reception that I haven't seen since prom 2 years ago, and it is sad but I've learned to move on. I have amazing friends now in 6th form and I seriously don't know what I'd do without them! xx

  5. I love this post, I can totally relate to obsessing over TV shows and movies with my friends and group chat therapy sessions (haha, loved that you called it that because it's so true). I found that it is harder to make friends at uni, but slowly and surely we get there :)

  6. Such a personal post. Loved reading it. I lost few childhood friends too and I actually had an opportunity few years ago to meet again and maybe re-spark our friendship. Sadly, I was in a very sad place at that time and screwed that chance. I feel so disappointed in myself right now and sad that I failed my chances at reunion. But I can't be mopping about it all my life, I need to live on :)

  7. I relate to this post so much! I've always been the same, kind of shy and anxious about social situations, and so when I make a good friend, they're there to stay! Also just like you, college has been quite the transition in terms of friends. Though I still text or snapchat my very best friend daily, she seems so far away! That said, I can finally see some new friendships blossoming and I couldn't be happier about that! I'm pretty confident my new friends will be golden ones too, even if those friendships take a little more time to form.

  9. Aww reading this filled me with mixed emotions you seem like a lovely girl and I hate to think of you being sad or feeling like you have no one. But I do understand the drifting apart business. Unfortunately we all grow up and grow in separate directions. The way I think of it, is that if it was meant to be and they were/are true friends, you'll find a way to reconnect and the distance won't even seem like it happened!
Always here if you need someone to moan at ;) big hug..

  10. I find it really hard to make new friends! I'm the sort of person who doesn't open up very easily and I'm quite a closed person until i get to know someone. My best friends see the real me and wow... I don't know how they put up with me! I literally talk so much!
