REBECCA READS | BOOK HAUL #2

I've decided to make 'Rebecca Reads' into a little mini series, I mean, it would make sense, taking into consideration how many books I buy. And last week was no exception. I went to Tesco's to go food shopping with my boyfriend, and I came home with six new books!

I asked you last time if you wanted to see reviews of the books once I'd finished reading them, but I have that many it's taken me a while to get round to doing that. However, I will get round to it, so let me know if you want me to do the same with these new ones too!

I think I said this last time, but I really should start taking the 2 for £7 stickers off the books, soz.

As you can tell I've gone down the thriller route again, I just can't get enough of them. But I've picked up two romance novels, so I'm very excited about that, as I love a good cry.

15th Affair by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro: Four bodies are found in a luxury hotel. The first is a man who checked in under a false name. Two are in a room next door, full of surveillance equipment. And the fourth is the house maid, who saw too much. Detective Lindsay Boxer is sent in to investigate and hunt down an elusive and dangerous suspect. But when her husband Joe goes missing, she begins to fear that the suspect she is searching for could be him. As the case gets ever more complicated and personal, San Francisco is suddenly faced with an atrocity no one will ever forget.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes: Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

The Passenger by Lisa Lutz: In case you were wondering, I didn't do it. I didn't have anything to do with Frank's death. I don't have an alibi, so you'll have to take my word for it... Forty-eight hours after leaving her husband's body at the base of the stairs, Tanya Dubois cashes in her credit cards, dyes her hair brown, demands a new name from a shadowy voice over the phone, and flees town. It's not the first time. She meets Blue, a female bartender who recognises the hunted look in a fugitive's eyes and offers her a place to stay. With dwindling choices, Tanya-now-Amelia accepts. An uneasy-and dangerous-alliance is born. It's almost impossible to live off the grid today, but Amelia-now-Debra and Blue have the courage, the ingenuity, and the desperation, to try. Hopscotching from city to city, Debra especially is chased by a very dark secret...can she outrun her past?

Only We Know by Karen Perry: In 1982, on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday beneath the stifling heat of the midday sun, three children start a game that ends in tragedy. Now, thirty years later, Nick, Luke and Katie are estranged, yet still bound together by the dark truth of what happened at the river that day. Except some secrets won't stay buried. And when Luke suddenly vanishes and the threatening messages begin, it seems that the strings of the past are tightening around them all. Because someone else knows what they did and is intent on seeking justice, at any cost...

Ice Twins by S.K. Tremayne: One of Sarah's daughters died. But can she be sure which one? A year after one of their identical twin daughters, Lydia, dies in an accident, Angus and Sarah Moorcraft move to the tiny Scottish island Angus inherited from his grandmother, hoping to put together the pieces of their shattered lives. But when their surviving daughter, Kirstie, claims they have mistaken her identity - that she, in fact, is Lydia - their world comes crashing down once again. As winter encroaches, Angus is forced to travel away from the island for work, Sarah is feeling isolated, and Kirstie (or is it Lydia?) is growing more disturbed. When a violent storm leaves Sarah and her daughter stranded, Sarah finds herself tortured by the past - what really happened on that fateful day one of her daughters died?

Disclaimer by Renee Knight: Imagine if the next thriller you opened was all about you. When an intriguing novel appears on Catherine's bedside table. she curls up and begins to read. But as she turns the pages she is horrified to realise she is a key character, a main player. This story will reveal her darkest secret. A secret she thought no one else knew...

Fix You by Carrie Elks: On New Year's Eve, 1999, Hanna and Richard meet. She is a born and bred Londoner with plans for a career in journalism. He is the son of a wealthy New Yorker and destined for Wall Street. As Hanna and Richard go back to their own worlds they keep in touch, and when Hanna has her heart broken it's Richard she turns to. They reunite and fall deeply, madly in love. But they can't possibly imagine the ways their love will be tested. Fifteen years after they first meet, neither can bear to hear the other's name spoken. Then one day Hanna walks into Richard's office and reveals a shocking secret. Richard must decide if he can forgive her. And both need to choose whether to take a second chance on happiness, or if their love is beyond repair?

Personally, I think these books sound so exciting, and I can't wait to curl up into bed, with a cuppa and chocolate, getting lost in the pages...

Side note: Blogger seems to be changing my font size and style when I publish this post...so I apologise for the two paragraphs that are different, I can't change it whatsoever. If anyone could help that would be really appreciated!!

Have you read any of these books before? If not, have you put any on your wish list now?:) Let me know in the comments below! XOXO B.

  1. Wish I could help you with the text issue, but unfortunately I get that too and not sure what to do. My font changes too from paragraph to paragraph. Sometimes it helps if I go back into the edit mode, highlight the text again and changing the font/size again. After saving and re-opening it to edit a few times, it kinda fixes itself.
You make me feel so bad, I don't remember the last time I read a book and you've just got 6 new ones lol! 15th affair sounds good.
