NAKED PALETTE REVIEW!

I'm definitely a drugstore kind of girl when it comes to makeup, don't get me wrong I'd love to dwell into the world of high-end beauty, but poor student problems and all. So I thought I'd review one of the more fancier brands for ya, the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette, aka my prized posession.

So for my birthday last year I made the difficult decision of picking out which naked palette I wanted, I mean have you seen the Naked 3? However, I decided to settle upon the Naked 1, it's pretty beautiful, don't believe me? Then keep reading.

Firstly, I love the packaging! It's one of those things that are satisfying to touch, ya feel me? It came with a few primers which I was very excited about, but because I'm not that makeup-savvy I think I used it wrong, is that even a thing? I used it for my birthday but I think I went overboard and used too much, as the eyeshadow just wouldn't apply onto my eyes, lol life problems.

I was additionally excited about the brush it comes with, it's double ended and works great for blending and applying the shadows.

The colour range is flaaaawless. There's gorgeous nudes and pinks which is perfect for a subtle eye look, and then there's darker bronzy golds, blues and purples for that smokey night time vibe. The versatility of the colours definitely drew me to this palette, as although I love trying to create a darker eye look for nights out, I fail miserably at them, and tend to stick to lighter colours. That being said, a golden/bronze eye is my all time fave, and this palette just so happens to have beautiful golden colours, so I'm a very happy girl.

The colours I use most are definitely Half Baked and Smog to create that golden look, with the occasional touch of Darkhorse in the crease to make it smokey. For nights out sometimes I am tempted to delve into Hustle, Creep and GunMetal. For a lighter and more day time look I will go for Sin and Sidecar. So basically all of them.. However, I don't think I've ever used Naked or Buck, I definitely need to experiment with colours more, so let me know your fave combo's in the comments please! Virgin is also pretty, I sometimes put it in the inner corner of my eyes but I don't think it brightens them much, so I tend to find a white highlight elsewhere to do the job.

The eyeshadows are very pigmented, they have a good colour pay off, and are long lasting. For the price (around £40) I would very well hope it's good quality, I was lucky enough to have my boyfriend gift this to me for my birthday, this is why I stick to drugstore products, so I don't sob after paying a ridiculous amount of money.

The palette includes four different textures which is a bonus as it makes it very versatile, these include matte, satin, shimmer and sparkle. I think I normally gravitate towards shimmery and sparkly eyes as I love that girly vibe, but matte eyes are a definite must sometimes too!

I definitely want to add to my collection and get the other Naked palettes, they all look so pretty!!

Let me know if you have any of the Naked palettes, and if you have the Naked 1 what are your fave eyeshadow combos? XOXO B.

  1. I don't own any Naked palettes, but I really would love to. I think I would go for the first one as well. I love how beautiful the shades are and they are kind of my type :) I just wish Naked palettes were less expensive. And were sold in my country, haha :)

  7. Lovely post as always! I've tried my friend's Naked 1 Palette before and I love the colour selection. I've got the Naked 3 palette, which I find is so girly and great for the spring/summer time. Although I hardly use it, since I suck at doing eye make-up, but I might start experimenting with it again haha xx

  12. Like you, I am definitely a drugstore lover! The naked palettes always looks fab but I just couldn't bring myself to spend so much on eyeshadow! Especially since there are so many good dupes now.. But as it was a gift you have an excuse lol ;) great review though and glad you're pleased with it.

  13. Ahhh this is something I've been mulling over forever but can't bear to part with the money considering I am a total novice with make up. The colours are just gorgeous though. Maybe I can convince my bf to gift it to me for our anniversary or something so that I can have it guilt free haha xx

  15. I still haven't tried a Naked palette! I used to use a MUA dupe of this one, and the shades were gorgeous. I've bought more pricey things than this in my time, but somehow I just can't justify the price of high end palettes!
