WHY WE SHOULD CAPTURE EVERY MOMENT!

I'm excited to bring you the fifth post of the Gratitude Challenge! This one is about something someone gave you, which at first I racked my brain, eyes scoring around my room, trying to pin point something precious to share with you.

Then it hit me. I shouldn't be looking round for just materialistic items, or items I can physically touch and hold, perhaps I should start with something a little more heart felt, to really capture my gratitude.

I guess I should start by thanking my family for giving me love, care and happiness. I have mentioned my family quite a lot in these posts, thus when I look back on my blog I can always be reminded of them. I thank my parents for getting a dog for us, a gorgeous Maltese crossed with a Bichon, named Benji. I will be forever grateful for that, I had longed for a dog for years and years, and I would be so heartbroken because I felt I had a hole in my heart, a dog was definitely the missing piece of the puzzle.

Something physical I can touch, is a blanket. It's a simple thing. A white blanket with adorable illustrations on from when I was a baby. I think it originally belonged to my cousins when they were babies, but then it got passed down to me. Safe to say I didn't stick to tradition and pass it on to my younger sister or cousin, I have held onto that thing like butter on bread. It's a part of my childhood, something that I have loved and treasured for nineteen years. My mum teases me about getting rid of it, and once I nearly broke down because I thought she'd thrown it away. I mean, for the longest time it's been hibernating on top of my wardrobe, I haven't seen it in the longest time, (mum if you've thrown it away I will not be happy haha) But knowing it's there, in the comfort of my own home calms me.

I've kept onto things from the past, like presents, and cute letters from Billy (sorry to embarrass you Bill). I'm such a hoarder, but recently I threw quite a lot away (forever wishing I kept everything in a memory box) why oh why have I never had a memory box?!!? (I feel like I'm the only one). Although I'm a hoarder, I seem to have thrown some important memories away, whether this be physical like old jewellery and clothes, but also I feel like I've thrown out important recollections and moments, when I should have captured more, continued to write diaries, and made a damn memory box!!

So if there is one thing I've learned from this post (and I hope this inspires you to do the same) is to cherish every single moment, make the most of each day, take photographs, videos, blog, write down each memory, every compliment, all the positive things to happen in your life. Then you can look back at everything over the years, and maybe even open your box of memories with your children in the future, with your grandchildren even, be it a physical box of memories (cork screws from celebrations, photos from prom, love letters from your partner) or the box of memories stored away in your head, ready to be told to open ears in the near future.

Are you one to cherish memories? Let me know in the comments below! XOXO B.

  2. I love cherishing moments! I have memory jar, the memories box and all that kind of jazz. I simply adore looking back at things that have connection to the happiest and the worst memories of mine. It's a way for me to remember and see how far have I come or how I changed to the better :)

I love keepsake things and simple things I like to keep are plane tickets/boarding passes! Brings back son many memories of the trip when I see them.
