Favourite lipsticks!

Finally, another beauty post...

I will start by telling you what brands and shades the lipsticks are, and if you're interested to see swatches there will be images below!

The first lipstick here is ever so popular Mac, what blogger can write beauty posts without mentioning the mega amazing Mac makeup? The shade I have is called 'Angel' which is such an adorable name, and I think matches the shade well, as it is a light natural pink that is quite subtle, and very pretty on. When I first apply this lipstick the coverage is not all that great, HOWEVER... it builds up to a beautiful finish, and I think we all need a light pink shade in our makeup collections, for that 'girly' and 'flirty' look. The lipstick is a 'frost' finish, this according to 'MAC definitions' means that it has excellent colour pay off (it's light and build-able in my opinion), medium to high frosted shimmer (in which I would agree, it looks stunning especially when it catches the light), and lastly, has a shine finish (YES!). The lipstick retails for £15 which for me, is ludicrous for a lipstick, but I felt like I needed a Mac product in my life. It's a well used product (as you may be able to tell from the photo), and one I always throw in my bag when I don't want a bright lip, I never have to worry about it smudging as it is such a light colour and it also makes applying it really easy. I actually find this lipstick moisturizing, even though I've read many reviews that state a different opinion. Can I mention the smell of the lipstick? Like is that acceptable? Well, it smells WONDERFUL, go give it a sniff!

The second lipstick in the photo is from the brand L'OREAL, which has been one of my favourite brands for years. They offer affordable products and gorgeous packaging (my photo shows a rather used product, apologies!) It retails for around £7 in Superdrug, which me being the cheapskate I am, thinks that is still quite expensive. I love the gold packaging and even more so, the colour of the lipstick is beautiful. Yet another pink, which has oddly made it into my favourites... I've recently come to the conclusion that pinks don't often suit me, they make me look quite washed out, however right now I do love these two pink lipsticks, they suit my current mood- girly and feminine. The lipstick is a Color Riche in the shade 303 Rose Tendre, cute am I right? The smell of this product is impeccable, it reminds me of those Violet sweets. The colour pay off is quite similar to the Mac Angel, I don't want to sound repetitive. It is lighter than Angel and I think has more shine to it, which again captures the light magically. It locks in moisture and even has an oil in it which helps increase that shine!

The first lipstick on the left is another L'OREAL product, this time a daring red colour. I never used to wear reds, for some reason I couldn't find a shade that suited my skin tone as I have very pale skin and dark hair. However, this product suits my skin tone very well and is very flattering- if I do say so myself! The product is again a Color Riche in the shade 461 creme de rouge/ scarlett creme. Again the smell is delightful, and the formula is very long lasting and pigmented, it is such a bold and loud colour. You can definitely pull off a fierce night time look with this lipstick, you'll look really bad chick pairing it with a smoky eye, or if you're not as daring you could pair with a neutral eye colour, or even no makeup at all. This is something I like to do. On days when I'm feeling 'ugh' and 'ah' and I don't have any makeup on, I throw on a red lip and I feel so much more put together. The lipstick is very easy to apply as it 'glides' onto your lips. I think I wear it more on my teeth than my actual lips, but hey, that's where the Vaseline 'tips and tricks' comes in handy, am I right ladies?

The middle product is possibly my 'favourite favourite' out of the whole bunch (lazy English language skills). Ted Baker is one of my FAVOURITE brands and never fails to amaze me. The packaging is incredible, the photo does not do it justice. However, upon taking this lipstick out with me on a night out (it has become my go-to party shade), it has acquired some weird patterns on the packaging, the dye of a packet of sweets leaked onto it, leaving a rainbow-esque marbled effect (very pretty though). The red is again, bold and fierce, I feel more confident with it on as I feel well put together. The bright lip detracts attention from any other area on your face, so if you're desperately trying to hide those bags from the late night before, throw yourself this lippy on, it'll work wonders! I received the lipstick in a set for Christmas (definitely check out the Ted Baker brand), so I'm really not sure what shade it is (it doesn't say anything on the packaging), but it's red! Hope that helps haha.

Lastly, we have another Mac product in the shade 'Rebel', which is a fitting name as the colour is so bold (I need a thesaurus), and....uh daring? There is the slight vanilla smell when I take off the lid, not as much as Angel though, (sorry I just really love the smell). I was quite sceptical at first glance, it looked very hard to pull off, especially because I have really pale skin, I thought it would just look messy. However, the colour pay off is quite different, it's not as purple as it seems, I think the red undertones are highly visible, and when the colour starts to fade it even turns my lips quite 'reddy pink' (think I'll get that thesaurus now). The lipstick is gorgeous, even the packaging of Mac is good on the eyes (what?), it's sleek black packaging, yes please.

Here are some swatches:

What are your favourite lipsticks? XOXO B.
